Chrome Extension Permissions - Why Read History?

I would like to know why the Chrome Extension needs to read my browsing history, and what it does with this information. I would like to use the extension at work but am not willing to do so if I risk disclosing sensitive browsing history information.

The Pomotodo Chrome Extension has the feature to block websites, and we need this permission to identify the websites.
